There has been a lot of conversation concerning our Sunday Gatherings among Dan, Kelly, and I (the vestry as well) and I want to open that up to others.
A few of us feel that we are at a crossroads in Three Nails and that we can go one of two ways: begin to multiply our Sunday Gatherings (like cell groups) or to eliminate them and begin to focus all of our energy as a community into cell groups. There is a temptation to drop Gatherings and release people to worship elsewhere on Sundays because that would make many of our lives less stressful and to free us up to invest our energy into the cells where the heart of Three Nails has always been. I personally find a great amount of value in our Gatherings and would hate to lose the opportunity to celebrate in worship with all of you, but I want to start the conversation with the larger group and see where it goes. Even if no one comments here, I hope murmurs of this question will begin to spread within the community and that we will end up in the place that God has for us as a community.

I met with Jenni Bartling a couple weeks ago about 3N and where we were in life. One of the most interesting topics that came up for me was the question of where I see 3N in 5 years, 10 years, etc. It was interesting becuase I did not have an answer that question.
There is a part of me that wonders what God is doing in our community. I fear that we are not where we are supposed to be and that we are not accomplishing all that we should be. But no matter what I am confident that he is moving constantly and building us all up in him, comforting us, loving us, placing us together that we may love one another. I see how that has impacted so many people and I am comforted by the knowledge that that regardless of where “3N” is in the future, that the impact this community has had and will continue to have on the world will continue on forever. More often than not that is enough for me.
I have been tired out by this last semester and, unfortunately, I worry about us a lot now that I have the responsibility to help lead this movement, but I am constantly encouraged by you. When I say you I mean all of those who I have the opportunity to live life with in this community. Those I see everday and those who I see once or twice a year, you have blessed me whether you know it or not. Thank you all for being a part of this community and part of my life. Whether we are around in 5 years or not, I know that this movement will echo into the ages. Thank you all.

starting next week we will be making the basement of 6605 woodwell st. our home base as threenails. what, you ask, does that entail? quality community bonding time sweeping, mopping, scrubbing walls, moving furniture, painting walls, laying carpet, dismantling a toilet, and enjoying the quirkiness of what was once probably the workshop of an absent minded carpenter. we need to get all of this done by next sunday!
soooooo we will be working next tuesday, wednesday, thursday and friday evening to get the space ready. please consider coming to help and also think about if you have anything to donate to the space: painting supplies, tables, pillows, lamps, christmas lights, art supplies, candles, tapestries, plastic yellow pigs, you know the deal. if you’re interested in being a part of creating our new home or if you have expert plumbing skills. please contact me (kelly) at 412.874.8231 or emily at 412.559.6496. sweet action. see you all soon.

last night kris and i met with the live.worship.shop cell group, which was once called the avalon cell group. the name makes sense if you’ve ever been to bellvue (where they meet) - there is a peculiar sign on the side of the road.
we spoke of lots of good and godly things from romans 2 and from our desires to maintain connection with the larger body of three nails. disconnection will always be a problem to some degree in three nails. it’s the nature of the beast. i am excited to limit that problem as much as possible and see three nails furthered and improved with the addition of our new vestry (our spiritual advisory group - matt niblack, ian kane, teresa ingalls, leslie thyberg, nicolette manglos, hannah thyberg, and tim tobitsch).
remember what we’re here for friends - to see a contagious release of god’s freedom and purpose in the world.

some simple questions about cells that i find helpful…
have you asked jesus to show you who the next leaders are in your group?
have you asked jesus if it is time to start a new group?
have you asked jesus if you should be meeting one on one with a future leader?
have you asked jesus to assemble a group of people who would be interested in meeting?
have you asked your fellow cell members if they sense it is time to start a group?
have you asked your fellow cell members if they would like to lead a group?
have you all prayed together to ask jesus about starting a new group?
do you believe in a jesus that has all of the resources i need just for the asking.
if you want to enter the conversation, find me a jdhtwo@gmail.com.
